Default Jetstar starts Melbourne - Perth flights

Jetstar has commenced its first service from Melbourne Airport to Perth, and has become the only
Australian domestic airline to currently operate from two airports directly to an Australian capital city.
Today’s evening service between Melbourne Airport and Perth will join the existing day service between
Melbourne Avalon and Perth which has been operating successfully since 28 March 2006.

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce said: “Melbourne-Perth is one of the nation’s fastest growing
markets and today’s flight bodes well for Jetstar to help service this demand.

“The timing of the new Jetstar overnight service between Melbourne Airport and Perth compliments our
existing daily service between Melbourne Avalon and Perth and offers our customers even greater
choice on this popular flying market.”

Bureau of Transport and Regional Economics data for the year to July 2007 has identified the Melbourne
– Perth route as one of the nation’s fastest growing markets, rising 14.6 per cent compared to the year to
July 2006 and supporting an existing 1.5 million yearly passenger movements.

Melbourne airport CEO Chris Woodruff said, “It is fantastic to see Jetstar committing to flights from
Melbourne Airport to one of Australia’s major capital cities. I have no doubt that these new Melbourne – Perth flights will be embraced by travellers."

Jetstar is set to add more capacity to more domestic routes as it welcomes 9 additional A320 aircraft into
its fleet from between December 2007 and March 2009.

This week the Qantas Board approved the acquisition of up to 108 short haul aircraft that will be used by
Jetstar to further grow on domestic and international markets. These new aircraft will provide more services for both Melbourne and Perth, Perth earmarked to be a new regional aviation base for the carrier.
