Default GoAir Adds Flights to Guwahati and Bagdogra to its Network

GoAir announced the addition of two new major destinations, Guwahati and Bagdogra (starting 21stMay, 2009) and the induction of one brand new A320 aircraft. With the addition of Guwahati and Bagdogra routes, GoAir has now expanded its services to the East of India after establishing a good presence in the North, West and Southern regions of the country. The addition of the 2 new routes takes the total number of destinations serviced by GoAir to 13 and total number of weekly flights provided by the airline to 335. The airline will offer an all inclusive starting fare of Rs 2400 and Rs 2900 for flights to the new destinations originating from Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

In accordance with the airline’s fleet induction plan, GoAir also announced the induction of one brand new A320 aircraft, taking the total number of aircrafts in its fleet to 7.The airline will induct another aircraft in June making the average age of the GoAir fleet (being all brand new deliveries) approximately 6 months. This will be the youngest fleet amongst Indian carriers.

Commenting on the expansion, Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of Guwahati & Bagdogra as part of our new summer schedule for 2009. We believe that these routes offer untapped potential and we hope to grow in this market in the months ahead. These new routes will cater to a mix of various segments like small and medium enterprises, corporate travelers, leisure flyers and pilgrim traffic. The addition of these new routes means that travelers to these cities will now be able to take advantage of the unparalleled network that GoAir offers”.

GoAir, being a smart airline, constantly studies the route viability before planning expansion. Realising that there is a lot of unmet demand for corporate and leisure travel in the two cities the airline has expanded its presence to Eastern India. Commenting on the viability of the sectors, he further added, “Guwahati is the gateway for all the seven states in the East and Bagdogra is the gateway for Sikkim, Nepal and Bhutan, therefore making perfect business sense to cater to these routes”. Additionally “this summer, to compliment our brand new fleet fervor – the GoAir ground and air personnel adorns a brand new look! Formally dressed in grey attire, the new GoAir welcomes you”
