Latvian airline airBaltic will launch nonstop flights to the Polish capital city of Warsaw and the Russian city of Pskov in September of this year, thus offering convenient transit connections to and from destinations in Western Europe, the CIS, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean region. The first flight from Riga Airport to Warsaw will be operated on September 17, while the first from Riga to Pskov will be offered on September 1.

Flights from Riga to Warsaw will be offered daily. Passengers will board Fokker 50 aircraft for a flight that will take one hour and 40 minutes. One-way ticket prices will begin at LVL 26 (EUR 37), including airport and transaction fees.

airBaltic Chief Commercial Officer Tero Taskila: "We are delighted that with the route between Warsaw and Riga, airBaltic will be entering one of the largest markets in the Baltic Sea region. The Pskov-Riga route, for its part, strengthens our foothold in Russia, where we already serve Moscow, St.Petersburg and Kaliningrad. These new routes will allow customers to enjoy additional convenience. Passengers will be able to transit Riga on their way to destinations such as Berlin, Zurich, Venice, Vienna, Simferopol, Kiev, Tashkent, and others. Pskov will attract greater numbers of tourists from Western Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean region, and the CIS."

So far during the summer of 2009, airBaltic has added 10 new cities to its list of destinations – Palanga and Kaunas in Lithuania, Tartu in Estonia, Turku in Finland, Linkoping in Sweden, Tromso in Norway, Dushanbe in Tajikistan, Geneva in Switzerland, and now also Warsaw and Pskov.

The new route offers very convenient transit connections through Riga, to and from final destinations in Western Europe, the CIS, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean region.
