The CEO of Sama Airlines, Bruce Ashby, reported that the airline has achieved over 87% on-time performance of the airline since it revised its flight schedules in early January 2009.
Ashby said, “We have succeeded in overcoming the operational difficulties we faced during the start-up phase of the airline in 2007-2008. I am delighted to note that we have operated for six months in a row with more than 87% of our flights departing within 15 minutes of schedule. That performance puts us on a par with the very best airlines in the world."
He added when delays occur; they are typically short ones, although occasionally we need to delay or cancel a flight due to technical reasons or weather. We know our customers regard on-time performance as one of the most important factors when choosing an airline”.
Ashby also said that the airline was currently reviewing options for adding new aircraft to its fleet. "We can see that measured growth over a period of four to five years would provide Sama with new technology aircraft and a convenient flight schedule to the destinations we serve, plus giving us the ability to add new destinations," he said. "We will provide further information on our specific plans later this year”.
Sama currently serves Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah, Hail, Tabuk, Gurayat, Rafha and Bishah within the Kingdom and also operates international services to Amman, Aleppo, Alexandria, Assiut, Beirut, Damascus and Sharjah.
