Thanh Nien News reports that AirAsia will reduce fares on its Hanoi to Bangkok and Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur services in May. Fares as low as US$29 and $35 respectively (excluding taxes etc) will be available from early May.

I think that a new route from BKK and KL to Ho Chi Minh City will be a winner.

Cool!  Grin

I'm planning to go to HCMC and Hanoi from BKK in the summer. I was going to fly with AirFrance, but now AirAsia looks more attractive.

Slightly off topic: does anyone know how much it costs to get a Vietnamese visa in Bangkok?

You can also fly from BKK to Saigon on Pacific Airlines. It's a Vietnamese budget airline. I'm not sure if it's a code-share with Bangkok Airways or their own flights. It's about US$100 one way.

It would be great to have some competition on the Vietnamese routes from all Asian budget carriers. As far as I know, AirAsia, Tiger Airways and Bangkok Airways fly there already.

Jaydee: Vietnamese visa is 1,800 baht in Bangkok - single entry 30 days.

There are also some recent reports that the Vietnamese government will allow foreigners to own up to 49 percent of local airlines. Expect new startup budget airlines in Vietnam. Maybe AirAsia Vietnam???  Smiley
