Deccan continues to increase connectivity to new city pairs across East and north east India and has announced the launch of new daily flights connecting Jorhat in Assam to Kolkata (via Guwahati). Operations will commence on 30th March 2008 and an Airbus 320 has been deployed to serve this route. Booking for the flights is open.

Ramki Sundaram officiating CEO Deccan said “Deccan is the only low cost carrier operating in the North east and is at the forefront to reaching out to ever more destinations. Our
new flights connecting Jorhat to Kolkata and Guwahati will come as a respite for travelers on this route and will aide the growth of tourism and commerce in the region. Going forward we will continually strive to increase connectivity and cater to leisure and business travel in the north east.”

Jorhat is considered the nerve centre of the India tea industry. Surrounded by splendid tea gardens it is also an ideal tourist destination and enjoys close commercial and cultural links with Kolkata.  The two cites however do not  have direct train connectivity and bus travel makes for a tedious 36 hour journey covering more than 735 kilometers. Guwahati the commercial capital of Assam is also one of the fastest developing cities in the North east and witnesses large passenger volumes to and fro from Jorhat and Kolkata.

Deccan already flies to Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar and Lilabari in Assam and also connects Dimapur, Aizawl, Agartala, Baghdogra and Imphal in the Northeast. Deccan’s new flights to Jorhat will provide seamless connectivity to more cities in Assam and help strengthen the economy of the region.

Deccan offers dynamic pricing on its entire seat inventory. The pricing is a function of demand and supply of seats at any given point in time. The earlier one books, the lesser one pay. Fares on the Guwahati – Jorhat – Guwahati and Kolkata – Guwahati- Kolkata sectors begin at Rs 500, taxes and surcharge will be applicable.
