Marketing week reports:

EasyJet has complained to the ASA about a Virgin Trains ad, which claims that a train journey emits three-quarters less carbon dioxide than a comparable trip by air. Earlier this year, the no-frills airline was rapped by the regulator for "inaccurately" portraying the environmental benefits of its new fleet of planes.

Now it's Ryanair vs. Eurostar:

Ryanair came in for renewed criticism from environmental campaigners yesterday after it launched a route in direct competition with Eurostar.

Europe's largest low-cost carrier reopened its Stansted to Brussels service yesterday, taking on the cross-channel train operator, whose passengers generate a tenth as much carbon dioxide per journey as plane travellers.

Are those carbon emissions per passenger, and do they assume full or partially full flights?  How do they calculate this, anyway?
