Have any of you had any trouble with luggage allowances?  I just read that easyJet allows you the full 20 kg.  Some of the airlines here in Asia have lower limits like 17 kg, and I think one of them even has a 14 kg limit.  They also have weight limits for carry-on.  I've always just squeaked under, and if you are on a fairly empty flight some of them ignore the weight limit.  No use in antagonizing a passenger on an unpopular flight, I guess.

I've got my way too heavy laptop with me this time, and it almost uses up the entire carry-on limit.

Then some of the airlines charge you for checked bags.  I guess that appeals to people on short or one-day turnarounds.

I've flown on almost every budget airline in Asia, but I've never had my carry-on weighted.

As for checked in luggage, consider any over the limit fees as part of the fare, it will still be cheaper than full service airline. One other thing to remember: if your trip consists of several segments on a budget airline and you are over the weight limit, you will have to pay baggage fees for each segment and this could add up to a noticeable amount.

My advice: know your ("baggage"  Grin) limits when you plan your trip.
