Virgin America will take low-cost flights in the US to the next level.

August 8th San Francisco to New York and Los Angeles
August 29th New York to Los Angeles
September 26th San Francisco to Washington Dulles
October 10th San Francisco to Las Vegas
October 24th Los Angeles to Dulles

Is Virgin America separate from Virgin?  Are they offering connecting flights with their trans-Atlantic service?

Virgin America is a part of the same empire, but a completely separate corporate entity. I doubt that they will offer connecting service, being budget airlines, but anything is possible.
