Electronic boarding passes are now accepted at all 26 Canadian airports where WestJet operates. WestJet is the first airline in North America to use this innovative paperless format to check in and board guests. Beginning tomorrow in Victoria, Comox, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Prince George, Kelowna, Grande Prairie, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, London, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Saint John, Moncton, Halifax, Charlottetown, Deer Lake and St. John's, guests will be able to proceed through security and board their WestJet flight using the electronic boarding pass displayed on their personal mobile device.
"We are thrilled that all 26 of WestJet's Canadian airports have accepted the electronic boarding pass," said Dale Tinevez, Vice-President of Airports for WestJet. "Thanks to the cooperation of these airports we are able to continue to build our exceptional guest experience across the country through this new and environmentally friendly service. Our team has worked diligently to bring this innovation to our guests and we especially appreciate the cooperation of the Victoria, Kelowna and Calgary airports during the trial period in June and July."
During the WestJet Web check-in process, guests will now be presented boarding pass options. They can choose to print their boarding pass immediately or at the airport, or select the electronic boarding pass option and have an e-mail sent to their mobile device. They will then show the boarding pass displayed on their mobile device to proceed through security and to board their flight.
