Budget airlines ordered to move to Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport

Budget airlines operating in Bangkok, Thailand, have been ordered to move to older Don Mueang Airport. The move is intended to reduce congestion at the main Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Domestic budget airline Nok Air is currently the only commercial airline operating from Don Mueang Airport. The other airlines that would be affected include Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai, and AirAsia.

Bangkok Airways increasing Samui – Hong Kong flights

Bangkok Airways has announced it will increase the number of Koh Samui – Hong Kong flights starting March 31, 2012. The frequency will increase from a daily flight to 10 per week.

New flights PG873 Koh Samui – Hong Kong (17:50 – 22:05) operate Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and PG874 Hong Kong – Koh Samui (09:05 – 11:10) operate Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.

Bangkok Airways to launch Samui – Kuala Lumpur route

Bangkok Airways will launch non-stop daily flights between Koh Samui (USM), Thailand and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KUL) on March 31, 2012.

Flight PG 951 will depart Koh Samui for Kuala Lumpur at 17:55 for a 20:25 arrival. The return leg, PHG 952, will depart Kuala Lumpur for Koh Samui at 08:20 landing at 09:00. Flights will be operated using an Airbus A319 aircraft with 138 economy class seats.

Bangkok Airways plans flights to Lucknow, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai

Bangkok Airways, which recently added Bengaluru as its second destination in India offering five direct weekly flights after launching the daily Mumbai-Bangkok services earlier this year, is looking at further expansion plans in the Indian market. The airline plans to start fights to Lucknow, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. The airline has appointed Global Air Transport Services to represent Bangkok Airways in India as the general sales agent (GSA).
