AirAsia enhances services for UnionPay cardholders

AirAsia will enhance its services for UnionPay cardholders around the world through the entire AirAsia ecosystem, which includes flights, hotels and other related transactions.

Guests from China will now be able to book flights on airasia.com in RMB using their UnionPay cards. Tune Money, AirAsia’s pre-paid card partner will also issue a multi-currency prepaid card in collaboration with UnionPay, which will be available in CNY, THB and HKD. [Read more…]

China’s Spring Airlines announces new routes to Hong Kong

Spring Airlines has announced it will offer four new routes from mainland China to Hong Kong.  Flights will be available from  Hangzhou, Chongqing, Xiamen and Nanjing and begin on December 16, 2012.

One-way promotional fares start from $30 USD + taxes.

Spring Airlines was founded in 2005 and is China’s only budget airline. It is based in Shanghai and already offers flights from Shanghai to Hong Kong.

AirAsia announces it will fly to Shanghai

Air Asia has announced it will offer direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai, China starting February 19, 2013. The new route will be operated by its long-haul division Air Asia X using a A330-300 aircraft.

At the announcement celebration, AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman Rani said: “Five months since we launched our first flight into Beijing, AirAsia is spreading its wings further into the country with the announcement of this service to Shanghai, one of the world’s largest cities by population.”

Online ticketing is available with one-way fares starting from $70 USD including taxes. Additional charges apply for checked luggage, meals and advance seat selection.

Scoot postpones new routes to Qingdao and Shenyang

Scoot Airlines has postponed the launch of their new routes from Singapore to Qingdao and Shenhang, China. The original launch date was November 27, 2012, but has been pushed back to January 11, 2013.

The low-cost airline was forced to postpone these flights as it has not yet obtained regulatory approval for the new routes.

Scoot has offered a $50 SGD travel voucher to passengers affected by the cancelled flights.

AirAsia to fly to Nanning, China

Budget airline AirAsia has announced it will offer direct flights from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Nanning, China starting from December 11, 2012.

The initial schedule will be three round trip-flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.  Kuala Lumpur – Nanning is AirAsia’s 22nd route to China.

Promotional one-way fares from Kuala Lumpur Nanning start from 99 MYR ($33 USD) including taxes.

Scoot Airline reveals two new destinations in China

Singapore’s low-cost Scoot Airline has announced it will be flying to two more cities in China: Shenyang and Qingdao.  The new routes are scheduled to begin on November 20, 2012.

One-way promotional fares start from just $98 SGD including taxes and surcharges. Additional fees will apply for checked luggage, on board meals, entertainment system, and advance seat selection.

Having debuted in June 2012, Scoot is a relative newcomer to the competitive budget airline business. Scoot already flies to Tianjin in China, as well as Sydney, Gold Coast, and Bangkok. It will also will launch new routes to Taipei and Tokyo this fall.

Thai AirAsia to fly from Bangkok to Wuhan, China

Thai AirAsia will offer direct daily flights from Bangkok to Wuhan, China. This new route will begin on October 19, 2012.

The outbound flight will depart Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport at 7:15am, arriving in Wuhan at 11:35am.  The return flight will depart Wuhan at  12:20pm, arriving in Bangkok at 3:10pm.

Promotional one-way fares from Bangkok to Wuhan start from just 1,590 THB ($53 USD) including taxes. As Thai AirAsia is a budget airline, additional fees will apply for checked luggage, on board meals, and advance seat selection.

Scoot’s newest destination is Tianjin, China

Scoot, the new low-cost wing of Singapore airlines, has revealed its third destination – Tianjin, China. Fights from Singapore to Tianjin will begin sometime in August 2012.

Scoot will be the first airline to offer direct service between Singapore and Tianjin and will offer 4 flights per week.

At the announcement, CEO Campbell Wilson said: “Scoot will also connect Tianjin through one of the world’s biggest air hubs, Singapore, offering connections to over 100 cities. We can’t wait to give people in Singapore more opportunity to Scoot away for Tianjin’s famed goubuli baozi and its many other attractions.”
