Bangkok Airways increases Bangkok – Phnom Penh flights to six daily

Bangkok Airways will add an extra daily flight between Bangkok and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. With the additional flight the airline will be operating six daily flights on this route. These additional services will start on 15 January 2016.

Bangkok Airways flight PG927 departs Bangkok (BKK – Suvarnabhumi Airport) at 6:20 am and arrives Phnom Penh at 7:30 am and flight PG928 departs Phnom Penh at 8:20 am and arrives in Bangkok (BKK – Suvarnabhumi Airport) at 9:30 am. The additional flights will be operated by Airbus A319, consisting of 12 Business class seats and 108 Economy class seats.

Other airlines operating on this route include Thai Airways (from Suvarnabhumi Airport) and AirAsia (from Don Muang Airport).

Nok Air to start flights from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City

Nok Air is restarting international services with a flight from Bangkok (Don Muang Airport) to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam. Nok Air previously operated flights to Hanoi. AirAsia to start Kuala Lumpur – Pattaya (U-Tapao Airport) flights

AirAsia will start flying from Kuala Lumpur (KLIA2) to Pattaya (U-Tapao Airport) on July 16. The airline will operate four weekly flights on this route.

AirAsia will be the only airline that connects Pattaya to Kuala Lumpur directly. This will be AirAsia’s seventh destination in Thailand from Kuala Lumpur, after Phuket, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Krabi and Surat Thani. Taiwanese budget airline V Air to launch flights to Bangkok and Chiang Mai

Taiwanese budget airline V Air will launch operations on December 17 with an inaugural flight to Bangkok. The airline, which was established last November, will also launch flights between Taipei and Chiang Mai in northern Thailand from January 7, 2015.

Introductory prices for a one-way flight will start at NT$1,988 (US$64).

The carrier is likely to face competition from Tigerair Taiwan, a budget airline joint venture between Taiwan’s China Airlines and Singapore’s Tiger Airways, which started operations on September 26 with an inaugural flight to Singapore.

Thai AirAsia X to restart low cost Bangkok- Japan flights September 1st

Beginning September 1st, Thai AirAsia X will begin 4 times weekly service from Bangkok to Narita and Osaka airports.  To jump start the new service, AirAsia X is offering promotional fares starting at 2,990b each way from now until July 13th with travel valid from September 1st through July 31st 2015.

Starting November 21st, service from Kuala Lumpur to Narita and Osaka will also begin with daily service planned for May 1st 2015. The airline is expanding service from South East Asia to Northern Asia in response to an increase in visitors to and from Japan. During a press conference CEO Azran Osman Rani remarked that the new service “significantly strengthens our position as we are using Kuala Lumpur as a connecting hub to connect people in Japan to not only Southeast Asia but also…to Australia”

Jetstar launches direct Phuket – Melbourne flights

Jetstar Airways started non-stop flights between Phuket and Melbourne on December 14th. The direct flights between Phuket and Melbourne will operate every Saturday and Sunday with a third day to be introduced in April 2014.

The second Australian city to be joined to Phuket by direct flights will be Sydney, starting in February next year, when Jetstar will fly state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners between the two cities. [Read more…]

THAI Smile starts Bangkok – Mandalay flights

Starting from 31 March, 2013 THAI Smile will operate roundtrip flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport to Mandalay International Airport five flights per week. THAI Smile inaugural flight TG781 from Bangkok took off at 07.25 hours on 31 March 2013 and arrived in Mandalay at 08.50 hours (local time).

THAI organized a warm welcome upon arrival in Mandalay , which was attended by representatives from the aviation and tourism sectors in Mandalay , the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The return flight to Bangkok was TG782, departed at 09.30 hours (local time) on 31 March 2013 from Mandalay and arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 11.55 hours. [Read more…]

Norwegian announces long-haul flights to USA, Thailand

Low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced it will offer long-haul routes from Scandinavia to the New York, USA and Bangkok, Thailand. The new routes will begin in 2013 and will be operated using new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

“Long-haul prices in Europe are very high. Operators are simply milking the market,” said Norwegian Chief Executive Bjoern Kjos. “We have to do something about the market so everyone can afford to fly.”

The new long-haul, low-cost flights will depart from Norwegian Air’s bases at Oslo and Stockholm-Arlanda airports. Online sales are currently available with dates from May 30, 2013.
