Scoot Airlines

Scoot Airlines is a long-haul, low-cost budget airline based in Singapore and is a subsidiary of national carrier Singapore Airlines.

The plans for the new airline were revealed in May 2011, and its name was announced at the official launch on November 1, 2011. Scoot’s first flight is anticipated to take place in April 2012.

Fares are expected to be 40% less than regular airlines. Initial routes are anticipated to include Australia, China, India, and the Middle East.

On December 1, 2011, Scoot revealed their first destination will be Sydney, Australia.

Scoot and Tigerair to Join KrisFlyer Frequent Flyer Program

Scoot postpones new routes to Qingdao and Shenyang

Scoot Airlines has postponed the launch of their new routes from Singapore to Qingdao and Shenhang, China. The original launch date was November 27, 2012, but has been pushed back to January 11, 2013.

The low-cost airline was forced to postpone these flights as it has not yet obtained regulatory approval for the new routes.

Scoot has offered a $50 SGD travel voucher to passengers affected by the cancelled flights.

Scoot begins service to Taipei

Low-cost airline Scoot commenced its latest route from Singapore to Taipei, Taiwan on September 18, 2012. The airline will offer three flights per week until October 29, then increase the schedule to one flight per day.

Taipei is the fifth destination for the newcomer airline Scoot, following Sydney, Gold Coast, Bangkok, and Tianjin.

One-way fares from Singapore to Taipei start from $178 SGD including taxes.  Additional charges apply for checked luggage, meals, and on-board entertainment.

Scoot Airline reveals two new destinations in China

Singapore’s low-cost Scoot Airline has announced it will be flying to two more cities in China: Shenyang and Qingdao.  The new routes are scheduled to begin on November 20, 2012.

One-way promotional fares start from just $98 SGD including taxes and surcharges. Additional fees will apply for checked luggage, on board meals, entertainment system, and advance seat selection.

Having debuted in June 2012, Scoot is a relative newcomer to the competitive budget airline business. Scoot already flies to Tianjin in China, as well as Sydney, Gold Coast, and Bangkok. It will also will launch new routes to Taipei and Tokyo this fall.

Scoot launches Singapore – Tianjin flights

Singaporean low-cost airline Scoot launched its newest route from Singapore to Tianjin, China on August 22, 2012. The initial schedule will be three flights per week, increasing to four flights per week from September 9, 2012.

Outbound flights will depart Singapore’s Changi Airport at 1:30am, arriving at Tianjin’s Binhai Airport at 7:30am. Return flights will depart Tianjin at 9:15am and arrive in Singapore at 3:05pm.

Having debuted in June 2012, Scoot is a relative newcomer to the competitive budget airline business. Tianjin is its fourth international route out of Singapore after Sydney, Gold Coast, and Bangkok. The airline will launch additional routes to Taipei and Tokyo in the coming months.

One-way fares from Singapore to Tianjin start from $188 SGD including taxes and surcharges. Addition fees apply for checked luggage, meals, and on-board entertainment.

Scoot to fly Singapore-Taipei starting September 18

Scoot Airlines, the new low-cost wing of Singapore Airlines, has pushed forward the launch date of its newest route from Singapore to Taipei, Taiwan. Initially planned for October, flights will now begin on September 18, 2012.

The outbound flight will depart Singapore’s Changi Airport at 1:05am and arrive at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport at 5:40am. The return flight will depart Taipei at 3:40pm and arrive in Singapore at 8:10pm local time.

Taipei is Scoot’s 5th destination after Sydney, Gold Coast, Tianjin, and Bangkok. The airline’s sixth destination will be Tokyo, Japan, and a launch date has not yet been announced.

One-way fares for Scoot’s new route start from just $88 SGD for one-way travel.

Scoot announces new routes to Tokyo and Taipei

Following its inaugural flights from Singapore – Sydney, Scoot Airline revealed two new destinations. The Singapore-based budget airline announced it will offer flights to Tokyo, Japan, and Taipei, Taiwan, sometime in the near future.

Scoot was founded in November 2011 and commenced flights on June 4, 2012. It is wholly owned by Singapore Airlines and focuses on serving medium and long-haul routes.  As a budget airline, passengers pay separately for checked luggage, in-flight meals, and an iPad entertainment system.

Starting dates for the new routes have not yet been announced.  Previously announced routes for Scoot include Gold Coast, Australia, Tianjin, China, and Bangkok, Thailand.

Scoot launches Singapore – Sydney flights

June 4, 2012 –  Scoot, Asia’s newest budget airline, took to the air today with its maiden flight from Singapore to Sydney. Its second round, Singapore to the Gold Coast, will launch on June 12, 2012.

Scoot is wholly owned by Singapore Airlines and based out of Singapore’s Changi Airport. Unlike most budget airlines, it will focus on medium and long-haul routes. Upcoming destinations include Tianjin, China, and Bangkok, Thailand.

Scoot’s fares are 40% less expensive than full-service airlines, and it has already sold more than 100,000 tickets. The airline also announced it will be offering iPad rentals for in-flight entertainment.
