Tiger Airways to launch thrice weekly Singapore-Davao flights

August 3, 2011 By Budget Airline News

Tiger Airways will launch direct flights between Singapore and Davao from 1 November 2011. Davao, the second largest city in the Philippines, has in recent years emerged as a major business, investment and tourism hub. Known as the “melting pot of the Philippines”, Davao is a culturally rich and extremely vibrant city. With beautiful beaches, mountain resorts and a low crime rate, Davao was named the ‘Most Livable City’ in the Philippines by the Department of Tourism in 2008.

“We are excited to add Davao to our growing portfolio of exciting destinations. Davao is an ideal destination for travellers who are keen on experiencing both the cultural diversity and natural beauty that the Philippines has to offer,” said Stewart Adams, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore.

With the addition of Davao to Tiger’s portfolio of routes, passengers can now purchase flights to four destinations in the Philippines – Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport), Manila
(Clark)1, Cebu and Davao.

Adams added, “As Singapore’s leading low-cost carrier, Tiger Airways is committed to providing customers the lowest airfares on safe and convenient point-to-point air travel, offering travellers low fares, more savings and more choices.”

Tiger Airways to expand its network in China

February 17, 2010 By Budget Airline News

Tony Davis, President and CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, said, “We are pleased that our robust growth and sales performance in the last quarter of 2009 has continued into 2010. These continued strong operating results and strong consumer demand for our low fare product, enable us to continue to expand our fleet and network of services in both Australia and Asia.

“Later this month, we are taking delivery of our 19th aircraft, the second Airbus A320 that we will own rather than lease. The increased fleet will enable us to serve even more destinations. Greater China is a very attractive market that we are keen to expand beyond our current network of 5 destinations, including our recently commenced services to Hong Kong. With increasing numbers of international travellers and the great support that we have enjoyed from passengers, authorities and airports, we are looking to both increase frequencies on current routes and add new destinations. We are currently evaluating the potential to commence services to a number of additional destinations including cities such as Hangzhou, Shantou, Taipei and Xiamen, and hope to finalise plans in the early part of the Year of the Tiger”, said Tony Davis.

Tiger Airways currently flies from Singapore to five Greater China destinations – Guangzhou, Haikou, Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen. To further celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Tiger with our passengers, special discounted fares will be offered on these routes, for bookings between 11 to 17 February.
