REDjet suspends all operations

REDjet, the first budget airline based in the Caribbean, has suspended all operations until further notice. The announcment was posted on the airline’s website on March 16, 2012, and cites financial losses as the cause.

The statement read: “REDjet has no alternative but to suspend flights from 23:59pm on 16th March until further notice. All passengers booked on any REDjet flight from Saturday should contact the call centre 24 hours before scheduled departure time for an update on their flight status.”

The statement also said more information would be released in the coming days, and that affected passengers will receive a refund. The full statement can be found at http://www.flyredjet.com/.

REDjet is a new entry into the struggling American budget airline market, and only began operations in May 2011.
